Litomyšl will disclose data about tenders to the public

Litomyšl (Svitavy region) - Litomyšl will become one of the pilot cities to try out the OpenData.cz initiative project. Not only does the city hall publish all tenders on its website, but now, thanks to the new project, they can compare costs of tenders in individual cities. The city tries to maximize the transparency of tenders, deputy mayor Radomil Kašpar told today the press.

Scientists prepare a website that could reveal overpriced tenders

Martin Nečaský (Faculty of Mathematics and physics, Charles University in Prague) focuses on XML language. Now he picked up another area - public tenders. Together with a colleague from University of Economics in Prague he wants to create a database that would be able to compare winning prices of services from tenders.

"We would like to initiate the creation of a transparent data infrastructure." says 28 years old assistant professor. "However, it is an ambitious plan which will take more than a day." he admits.

Za veřejná data bojuje i evropská iniciativa

Czech scientists, who would like to launch a web application for collection of data from tenders, took an inspiration abroad. In Western Europe the Open Government Data initiative exists for several years now.

Its goal is to collect available official information, concentrate it in one place and in the same time push the official institutions to publish as much information as possible.
